Gastroparesis: Fighting for Change

Plain Language Summary: "This case report describes a 65-year-old man with idiopathic gastroparesis who underwent gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM) combined with simultaneous transpyloric stenting. The procedure led to complete symptom resolution and normalization of the Gastroparesis Cardinal Symptom Index, with sustained long-term relief. The authors note that there are currently no data on using these 2 endoscopic techniques together. They hypothesize that transpyloric stenting may modify the healing process after myotomy by preventing fibrosis and restenosis of the gastric outlet, potentially increasing the efficacy and long-term durability of G-POEM in treating gastroparesis."journals.lww.com/acgcr/fulltext/2026/04000/efficacy_of_combined_gastric_peroral_endoscopic.22.aspx#Gastroparesis #CureGP

Gastroparesis: Fighting for Change

"In conclusion, our study suggests that pyloric FLIP plays a role in differentiating patients that may benefit from targeted pyloric therapies. It will be critical for multicenter collaboration and standardization of procedural technique and symptom assessment to reach an evidence-based understanding of the role of the pylorus in chronic nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain in pediatrics to establish the most suitable treatments."onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/nmo.70303#Gastroparesis #CureGP

Gastroparesis: Fighting for Change

"Gastroparesis is a common complication following cardiothoracic transplantation, underscoring the need for increased awareness and early recognition. Incorporating pre-, peri-, and post-operative strategies may help reduce the development of post-transplant gastroparesis and its downstream clinical consequences."onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/apt.70635#Gastroparesis #CureGP
