Gastroparesis needs more attention and support. People are suffering and dying from this disease and we need to bring more attention and awareness to it. My friend is suffering from this disease; let’s spread the love.

My daughter has a global motility disorder, which includes gastroparesis. She came down with this awful infliction five years ago. One night when I took her into the hospital, they nearly killed her by giving her an opioid. It had the opposite effect or increasing her pain as it slowed down her digestive system even more. Then the hospital tried to send me home with a child in so much pain she could not get up. Finally, hospital did admit her but told her never to come back as there was nothing they could do for her. Since that time, we traveled to the Mayo Clinic seeking medical care and eventually moved to be closer to family and better medical care. The costs are enormous; the relief is little. We lost friends that we made with the same condition. I know we can do better. Research into the cause, treatment, and someday a cure is needed. In the meantime, our numbers continue to grow. Help is needed now, so I am asking for your help in supporting H.R. 3396.
